The collection consists of the records of the Knox County Klan No. 14 during the years of its decline in the late 1920s. The records include proposed amendments and additions to by-laws, correspondence, financial records, petitions and applications for membership, membership and dues records, and memorabilia. Correspondence is between the Knoxville klavern and the Office of the Grand Dragon, Realm of Tennessee, and concerns the membership, parades, interchapter visits, and a few political matters. Records include a bank statement (1927-1928), a quarterly report (1928), recommended amendments to by-laws, and membership forms. Petitions and applications for citizenship [membership] in the Klan (1924-1927) contain personal information supplied by applicants.

The Knox County Ku Klux Klan No. 14 was chartered in 1921 when it had 500 members. By 1923, it had over 2,000 members and the klavern held its meetings in a building at W. 4th Avenue and King Street in Knoxville, Tennessee; ceremonies were held at Sharp's Ridge, a mountain northwest of Knoxville.
